How to set-up an off-line e-mail client to synchronise with Lapauw O365?

Desktop computer applications such as Outlook, Windows Mail, Mac Mail, Thunderbird,...

Smartphone applications such as Outlook, iOS Mail, Gmail,...

can all be used to synchronise your latest e-mails, contacts, calendars from the Microsoft Exchange (Office365) server on your device (smartphone, tablet, computer) in off-line mode.
You need to set-up these apps to retrieve the data in the O365 as follows:

  1. Go to the app of your choice and launch the procedure to add a new account.
  2. You might need to tell your app that your Lapauw O365 account works with Microsoft Exchange technology (not Outlook online, not Gmail, not iCloud)
  3. If sync settings do not configure automatically, you might have to configure manually and fill in the IMAP or SMTP server settings for incoming and outgoing e-mail which you find here:
    • IMAP:
      • Server name: outlook.office365.com
      • Port: 993
      • Encryption method: TSL
    • SMTP:
      • Server name: outlook.office365.com
      • Port: 587
      • Encryption method: TSL
    • POP: (old technology, not recommended because it only 'downloads' from the server, but does NOT 'synchronise' with the server)
